Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in Sandtray training at Bear’s Pathway Counseling. To register, please select an available training date and complete the registration process below.

Please do not submit payment unless you are registering for a scheduled training. Because payment processing fees are incurred at the time of each transaction, refunds may be subject to those non-refundable processing costs.

Training Investment

• Cost per Level: $350
• Texas Sandtray Association (TSTA) Members: Receive a $25 discount per training level with proof of current membership.

Continuing Education

Each training level provides 12 contact hours and has been approved for continuing education through:

• Applicable Texas Mental Health Licensing Boards

Group Training Opportunities

Interested in hosting a private training for your organization, agency, school, or group of clinicians?

Class Size

Because Sandtray Therapy is an experiential modality, each training is intentionally limited to six participants.

This allows every participant the opportunity to fully engage in the learning process, receive individualized support, and experience the depth of Sandtray work in a safe and respectful learning environment.

Payment & Refund Policy

Please review the following payment and refund policies before registering for a Sandtray training.

Refund Policy

A written cancellation request must be submitted via email at least 14 days prior to the scheduled training date to be eligible for a refund.

Approved refunds will be issued for the amount paid minus a $50 administrative and payment processing fee. Please allow 2–3 weeks for refunds to be processed.

Your registration reserves a seat in the training. Because class sizes are intentionally limited, participants who cancel fewer than 14 days before the training, or who do not attend, remain responsible for the full registration fee.

Texas Sandtray Association (TSTA) Member Discount

As an approved training provider for the Texas Sandtray Association (TSTA), current TSTA members are eligible to receive a $25 discount on each training level. The discount option is available during the online registration and payment process. Proof of current TSTA membership may be required.

Payment

Payment is completed securely during the online registration process. Participants may pay using PayPal or a major credit card.

Inclement Weather or Government Restrictions

If the State of Texas or local authorities determine that it is unsafe to conduct an in-person training, participants may choose to transfer their registration to a future training date or receive a full refund of the registration fee.

Please note that Bear’s Pathway Counseling is not responsible for lodging, travel, meals, or other personal expenses incurred in connection with attending a training.

Continuing Education Information

The Texas behavioral health licensing boards no longer pre-approve or endorse continuing education providers. Instead, they establish standards and requirements that continuing education activities must meet in order to qualify for license renewal.

This Sandtray training has been developed to meet the applicable continuing education requirements established by the Texas licensing boards.

If you have questions regarding your individual continuing education requirements or the acceptance of contact hours for your specific license, please contact your licensing board directly for guidance and clarification.

About the Instructor

Kathy Carter, LCSW, LCDC, SAP, CCTP-II, Certified Grief Educator, CCST-AC-T, is the Owner and Clinical Director of Bear’s Pathway Counseling in Waller, Texas. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kathy has called Texas home for the past four years, where she provides trauma-informed therapy to teens and adults while also training mental health professionals in Sandtray Therapy.

Kathy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Community Leadership and Development from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a Master of Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a Master of Social Work from Walden University in Minnesota.

She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional-II (CCTP-II), Certified Grief Educator, and Certified Clinical Sandtray Trainer (CCST-AC-T).

Kathy completed her Sandtray training under Karen Burke, LPC-S, RPT-S, CCST-T, Co-Founder of the Texas Sandtray Association (TSTA) in Austin, Texas. She has extensive experience integrating Sandtray Therapy into her clinical work with adolescents and adults, alongside Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

For Kathy, Sandtray Therapy is more than a clinical modality—it has also been part of her own healing journey following the profound loss of her son. That personal experience, combined with her clinical training and years of practice, has deepened her appreciation for the transformative power of Sandtray Therapy. She is passionate about creating experiential trainings that equip clinicians with practical skills while fostering personal insight, professional growth, and confidence in the therapeutic process.

Kathy believes that meaningful learning occurs through experience. Her goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and reflective training environment where participants leave feeling inspired, equipped, and confident to integrate Sandtray Therapy into their clinical practice.
